Recently diagnosed, need urgent help

Post by Guest » Fri Apr 06, 2018 11:35 pm

Hello everyone

I have been diagnosed with severe OSA with 50 Oxygen Desaturation Events happening per hour. All apnea episodes are Obstructive in nature.
Doctor has given a choice of 2 options: CPAP or Surgery

I am overweight. 84 kgs for a height of 5'6".

I've been feeling so sleepy in the day lately that my doctor has prescribed upto 200mg of Modafinil to tackle the daytime sleepiness.

My job is coming up in a month or so and I need to get in shape.

Please advise.

I would go for CPAP.
Either way you will not have time for surgery.
You could go for an APAP for the best treatment and if in a hurry and you have to wait for NHS you could buy second hand. You will still require mask and hose though and the mask can be a bit difficult to get right.
It does take a bit of getting used to but CPAP is the best option.

However, the choice is yours.
