Most are on a yearly review.
Appears to depend on which Hospital you attended.
Don't be shy in asking them questions when you are back for a review. When you are first diagnosed events sort of overtake you.

Thank you for being so welcoming especially as its such an exclusive club!

Thanks for the information Sandwichman on reading the SD card, I have been given a ResMed Escape machine and I do have a Mac so will give it a go a little later.

Just one more question though if you don't mind, are any of you followed up regularly at sleep clinics or are you left alone unless there is a problem?

Hi anniekins and welcome

If you'd like to have a look see at what's on the SD card, you've got access to an SD card reader on your computer and you've got one of the following xPAP machines:-

Philips Respironics System One
ResMed S9 families
DeVilbiss Intellipap

can I reccomend a program called SleepyHead. Works on Mac's, Linux and Windows platforms.
See http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/s ... =Main_Page for more info

Hi Anniekins,

Welcome to the Hoseheads :)
Good to see you are taking to the CPAP so well.
The card will tell them hours used and if you are still having a few apnoeas as well as leaks etc. depending on the machine you have and the data it collects. The hospital I attend only reads hours used if you have no problems and will only read the card if you have problems.
Sounds as if you are doing fine though :)

Hi anniekins and welcome to the forum.

Well done you for having such a positive approach. Fantastic that you are sleeping so well - I took much longer with my machine but once all clicked into place the euphoria was amazing.

Good luck and ask away.

Michael

Thought I would say hello to you all as I have just recently been diagnosed with sleep apnoea. It has been a long road before getting the diagnosis with about two and a half years of tests for the constant coughing, wheezing and tiredness. First I was told I had late onset asthma and have been on steroids for the last year along with several other medications but still getting progressively worse.

The hospital I have been attending then referred me to the Brompton Hospital in london and after a battery of tests sleep apnoea was diagnosed two weeks ago and I do not have asthma after all. I was given a CPAP machine to use at home, and it has changed my life! I have not slept as well for years, the fog in my head is now lifting and I finally feel I am getting my life back and not struggling each and every day.

I am so glad I found your site as it has given me so much information just when I needed it. I do not have a follow up appointment, but have to post the sim card from the back of the machine to them in four weeks time.......... I'm not sure what it will tell them but I will soon find out!
