Hi trinity, We went to the cinema last night and for a meal out in the evening My first time to a cinema since 2003. We gave up as it was a waste of money as I slept through the first Harry Potter films and Lord of the Rings. I am tired but still feel like a new woman

My hubby started with his machine last week, he also said that he felt far better after the first night despite not feeling that he had a good nights sleep, he has for the first time in years been able to watch tv without falling asleep after 20min!!!

Thanks folks I had a mixed night. I set up the mask etc, switched on the machine and lay down. As soon as I did so I had air leakage so decided to try sleeping on my back instead of my side. It was weird being woken up within minutes with a much higher blast of air. It happened lots of times so I guess that was when I stopped breathing. I was woken much later by hubby telling me it was leaking and I was sleeping through it he had to do it lots of times during the night. In the end I tried to sleep with my hand on the mask so it didn't leak. The problem was to the side of my moth so maybe I knocked it so it wasn't straight. When it was working properly I had tingling in my fingers and toes Hubby thinks that is because I was getting enough air for a change. When I woke up this morning I felt more alert than on a normal morning despite the fact that we were both woken countless times. Maybe it is doing something already
Thanks folks :)

I decided to give the golf ball another try so I could say honestly that I had tried. I did two nights of torture and then at my appointment today it wasn't even mentioned. Hubby thinks that maybe they have to jump through hoops before they can try CPAP. At my appointment I was given a CPAP machine to try for a week and despite previous worrries I am looking forward to being able to trial it tonight. Hubby came with me so he is now more aware than ever that this important for my health. I was told that I will probably feel better tomorrow. Now that would be good. Just remembered to add it is an S8 and it seemed very quiet when I tried it at the hospital today. I have just been reading peoples results of their sleep tests with numbers mentioned. I wasn't told anything today and didn't know to ask. Maybe next week I will be given more detailed information. Tomorrow I will report on how things are going.

I think its Alsa who deserves the huge praise for her help i just chucked my 10p worth in at the end .
You have gone from a CRAP service to hopefully a PAP service now , well done you should feel way better on therapy may take awhile to adjust but you will reap the benefits of it .
The Golf Ball - Glue it onto a golf tee and mount it on something and look back at it when you are in top health and laugh at it .
Take Care and Best Wishes for the trial ,

I have an appointment for next Tuesday 8TH May and a follow up the following week. The letter says I will have a trial of PAP for a week to see if it makes a difference to my sleep apnoea. Thank you Alsasienne and Nuneatonman for the encouragement to get back to the hospital. You gave me the confidence to push for an appointment to try PAP.

I've been reading your posts poohbear, I'm glad you have a new appointment coming out, hopefully you'll not have to wait too long. Mind, you've gone and put me right off trying the golf ball in the t-shirt treatment Thanks for posting that N.I.C.E. guidelines link as well Nuneatonman it's good to have the info, just in case. And I'm up to page 7 of your Journal, it's a bit lively on there lol Dee

Now that is a good idea Tired Tracey Nuneatonman, thank you, I have just read the NICE guidelines, no mention of golf balls at all But seriously it is useful to have the correct information when I go back to the sleep clinic. The letter also suggeted special sleepwear The mind boggles. After a few days of panic (and I wish I posted on here as soon as I had the results and recommendations) I am feeling a thousand times happier. Thank you all

I pestered the hospital again today and actually had someone phone me back. She agreed that I should 'give CPAP a try'. So I should have a new appointment sent through to me soon. I still don't know what happened to all my previous messages that I left for them I have to thank Alsacienne for helping me to realise I wasn't making a fuss about nothing. In case anyone else fancies trying a golf ball I can tell you it leaves lovely matching circular bruises on your back when you sleep on it maybe I should post a copy of the letter from the sleep team telling me to attach a golf ball to my nightwear. Maybe they have to jump through hoops too.
