Hello all, just joined this group. I am a 38 year old woman who snores badly!! I am over weight - but still snored when not over weight....my husband says I snore with my mouth closed, but when it's open - I don't! He seems to fall asleep downstairs most nights, however if he does go to bed and falls asleep first....then he is saved from the noise from me! Last night though....I was sick of getting poked, prodded, mouth prized open....and moaned at....

It seems from this site, that I am a tongue snorer...therefore using a device may help to stop the snoring. I nearly bought a device in Boots today at £30....but it was a lot of money if it didn't work....

I am a full time student, mother of 2.....working....and I need to feel rested and save my hubby from killing me LOL (Joke of course)

Any help/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks :-)

Welcome! Thank you for having the courage to post!

You might find it useful to complete the Epworth Sleepiness Questionnaire in addition to the other material found on the forum. If you think you're a tongue snorer, perhaps it might be worth visiting your dentist ...

Not sure if I'd want to pay out £30 for a device that might not fit or is not actually linked to the cause of my snoring. But as the saying goes, 'you pays your money ......'

First stop would be my GP if I were you ......... and tell him/her what you told us. You have nothing to lose and it might save you £30! ATB.

Thank you for your reply. I did go to my doctor a few years back and he gave me Beconase (sp) spray....it worked for a short while.....and then stopped...

The snoring is stopping me having nights away with girlfriends...as its soooo embarrassing. However, I told one of my friends since she had asked me to stay over a few nights......she thought I was making a mountain out of a mole hill....and it seems she waited desperately during the night - do hear my snore....and NOTHING!!!

She told me that my hubby must have it wrong.....but I can assure you - he hasn't, as some times I wake myself up with the throat vibration LOL.

I think I will have to re visit my doc and dentist....although I did speak to my dentist a few months back and he told me that it would cost £200+ for a mouth shield...and it may not work :-/

Shall keep you posted :-)

Back to your GP again I think, and tell them what you told us.
