Hi all, hope somebody can help with my issues before, as the post says, the missus stabs me in my sleep!!

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with rhinitis, multiple trips to the docs and dozens of courses of steroids & anti biotics later, I'm now about 3st heavier and snoring more than ever.

Last month I went to my GP again and she referred me to a specialist at the ENT dept, he said I have nasal polys and sent me for a CT scan where it was discovered only my left nostril had a "polyp" which the specialist said was very strange and they rushed me through an op as they weren't sure what the lump was....the lump was removed 2 weeks ago and my snoring is now worse than ever.

I can breathe so much easier through my left nostril now, but the right one still seems blocked so I am back at the hospital in a week or so for the results of what the lump was.

Up until about 6 weeks ago I was using the RipSnore device every night which worked fairly well, it stopped me snoring as loud but it drove me round the bend, as I wear dentures I couldn't get a perfect fit and it would sometimes come out during the night and I would snore, and every morning without fail my teeth would ache so bad because I'd been biting into this thing all night.

The missus cant cope much more to be honest, she often goes to sleep in another room and its killing our relationship, she has just returned from the doctors with some prescribed sleeping tablets but obviously this is not a viable long term solution.

My ex partner said I had OSA, however my present partner says I dont, I've completed the Epworth test with a score of 4 so I dont think I have either, I just have a major issue with snoring.

Is there any hope for me? :(

GO BACK TO YOUR GP and tell him/her what you've told us. I hope that you'll soon find a solution to the problem!

As above, and take your partner with you.

I'm a miserable, sleep deprived spouse of an overweight, constantly at work or exhausted snorer. To say ,I'm at the end of my tether is an understatement. He has had surgery to correct a deviated septum from an old rugby injury, various nasal strips, electric shock watches(I kid you not) and two MADs. the second one seems to be working a bit better but he also often finds it drops and is uncomfortable to wear. I firmly believe its the initial fitting that is important, get that wrong and you're stuffed!
Do go back to your GP and take your partner, if only to show her you are doing something about it. It can be pretty depressing living with a heavy snorer and feel like they aren't taking the problem seriously. Meanwhile get her on this chat forum so I've got someone to moan with! Good luck and I really hope you get results.
