After yet another night of having to sleep in separate rooms, I've decided action is needed. My boyfriend of seven years is a snorer and the ear plugs I use don't seem to do the trick. I've tried a number of different brands, purchased from Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury's... The problem is, I can still hear the snores. Not only that, but my inner right ear has become agitated from constantly having to wear plugs at night. I have resigned myself to the fact that ear plugs are our best chance of getting a full night's sleep in the same bed together. I just want to know if anyone can recommend a good quality plug that I can buy.

I would suggest you go to your GP together and get to the bottom of the snoring, it can be the signs of underlying problems. He may be sent to ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) for investigation. If he is tired during the day it might be OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea), in which case a sleep study will be needed to confirm this.
First stop is the GP, go along with him and explain it is affecting you both.

Good luck

This can happen always or may happen to people who snore every now and then. Also, it’s good to have some Earplugs on hand for noisy work, strong music by concerts, or other noisy happenings.

Get some custom made earplugs. Much more comfortable, you can sleep on your side and everything. Will last a lifetime! yes expensive though. As to whether or not they are worth it, hmmm debatable. They are wonderful for me in getting off to sleep as I just cant stand hearing my partner breathing. However, if I wake in the night, they are of no use, I can hear him snoring (he's a really loud snorer) and nothing can block it. They are also wonderful for blocking out the sound of your neighbours party :)

Ok, pretty basic question. I want to get back into swimming for fitness, and I got myself some swimming earplugs (never used them before now). However, I've been known to get some bad ear infections in the past that make me pretty sick.

My question is - will using earplugs make me more or less likely to have ear problems? On the one hand it doesn't really seem healthy to have a piece of rubber jammed in your ear for 45 minutes a day, but on the other hand the water could also be bad for them (although it didn't really bother me when I used to swim, my ear problems seem worse than they were back then). So, for those of you with more swimming experience, which would you recommend?

I think you are on the wrong website perhaps try The British Swimming Association website for help .
