My husband has almost completely ceased snoring by cutting dairy out of his diet and not drinking alcohol in the evenings. Has anyone else tried this?

Alcohol is well known to increase likelihood / volume of snoring.

From my professional days alcohol is a very strong sedative and does cause muscles to relax, so snoring will increase as it may cause the trachia to close, or partialy collapse. Dairy products is a new one, only thing I could think of, it does produce large amounts of mucous as it is something that the body has to work hard to digest.
The extra mucous could increase the risk of snoring in the beginning of the sleep, at one stage I remember it was being linked to the "cot death syndrom". I suppose the clutch of the issue will depend upon type of snorer you are, and how long it lasts.
