Hello everyone,

I'm 23 and just found out that I snore (girlfriend has told me)! I think people in the past must have been too polite to say anything. I've been recording myself when asleep to see how bad I am, I snore every night. Not for necessarily long periods but there's probably a snoring episode lasting 10-15 minutes every hour.

I don't believe I have sleep apnoea, as I am never tired in the day, but I guess you never know. I am not overweight, and I snore whether I have had a drink of alcohol or not (rarely drink).

I decided to book in to see my GP, but I wondered if any one could tell me what he's likely to recommend as a first option? I'd like to try and get this sorted out, because I'm worried my girlfriend is just going to hate me for it.

I think that he'll do the height, weight and neck size checks and ask about smoking and drinking. You may want to do an Epworth test beforehand, here's the link - http://www.britishsnoring.co.uk/sleep_a ... _scale.php

This will probably help to see if it is apnoea or not. To be honest, I don't think they'll do that much, when I went a few years back just to ask about snoring they did nothing. When I went last year about snoring they did refer me to the ENT clinic but he just recommended that I buy a snoremender (which worked quite well to be honest).

Let us know how you get on and welcome :D

Cheers Headthrob,

Do you still use the snoremendor? I've done the Epworth test, and based on that I don't appear to have sleep apnoea.

Thanks

No, I stopped using it once I got the CPAP machine.
