Hi Jay
In 2004 I was 15 stone 4lbs, When I picked up my overnight sleep study in Oct 05 I was 12st 9 lbs, Most of 2005 I was listening to Paul McKennas CDs nearly every day. I have never been on a diet as such, and never counted calories, never believed in low fat this and that (our brains are 60%fat...bring on the saturated fat!) Between that time and most of last year I was round about 14 stone, and am at present 13 stone 8.5 lbs (with nothing on but the radio

) I am 6ft tall and my BMI which I printed out, but can't find at this moment is 26 point something. I am definitely in the overweight category but not too much. I believe that reducing carbohydrates is the key, but we all like carbs so reducing portions is the key really. I have tried to get the amount of sugar down in my endless cups of tea and coffee and often put sweetners in instead, but do sweetners cause alzheimers?

) I try to restrict myself to one slice of toast at breakfast, and my meal about 6 pm will maybe have two small boiled new potatoes, or home made chips out of a medium sized potato.........If you don't cook more, you wont be wanting more!...this is easier for me 'cause I live on my tod.
Most of the dieting industry is a scam, and the bottom line is always money, even the recommendations of the government and Health Service are dubious in my opinion, why is obesity on the increase, if so called "healthy eating" is good for you?. Anyhow, it's up to the individual what they believe, and everyone seems different, when I see young kids who are still at school, they are scoffing all the wrong things, but their bodies and hormones are probably using up all those foods for growth, a lot of them look like stick insects, they are so skinny(shock, horror!!)
If you are interested in learning about low carb then "The Calorie Fallacy" by Barry Groves is IMO very accurate even if it was writted in 1994...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Calorie-Fallacy ... 791&sr=1-4I have ordered a spare copy because friends and family often want to borrow books, but getting them back is another issue

Cheers for now Ken
