I have finally seen the consultant having had my sleep study done a few weeks ago and having been referred what feels like ages ago now!

The initial sleep study didn't show anything, but the consultant said my symptoms do all point to OSA so I'm going to have an in-depth sleep study...

...except that can't be done for at least 4 weeks!!!...

...and then I have to wait a further 2 weeks or so before I see the consultant again!!!!

I am feeling a bit fed up, to be quite honest. I'm truly fed up with feeling so tired (today I scored 18 on the Epworth sleepiness scale - same as last time I did it) and I'm also thoroughly fed up with being stuck on the sofa for months to find today that it's still going to be at least 6 weeks before I see the consultant again and any treatment can be offered!

In the meantime the consultant's solution is for me to try to get more sleep!?!?! With a 21-month-old toddler and a husband who works a 70-hour working week, that is just not going to happen :(

Is it normal to wait this long?!

Hi,

I waited 3 months to see my consultant then full polysomnography test 2wks later ,the results took 8wks to come back to me.

It all depends where you are in the country and what the waiting times are .

Luckily they are giving you the full test this time that will tell for sure if you osa or not.

The hospital test is nothing at all to be worried about lots of wire's and electrodes placed around your head, oxygen monitor ,2 bands around stomach area.

Good luck with the test ,keep us posted .

Best Wishes,

i waited two years before my referral came through. Then I had three sleep studies, they said the first one showed normal range and they did a more indepth one that didn't register the finger monitor, but the third one did and I got my machine last week. Please persevere.

I'm new to the forum, but have found that there are loads of lovely people on here with lots of useful advice.

Good luck.

Don't give up bokeh, we have all had to wait.
It may not be the end of your problems either as a lot of people do not take to the machine or mash straight away and have teething problems. That said, do not give up or loose faith, it is worth it in the end. :)
