Read in the paper today that Ed Miliband suffers from sleep apnoea and is having his deviated septum operated on through the NHS in July and also having his adenoids and tonsils out. They think it will make him sound better when he speaks! (Decent policies would make him sound better!) Seems there are a lot of high profile people with sleep apnoea out there but perhaps having a politician with it may increase the profile of the condition. Can't really see that happening myself Ed has only just come into the public limelight there are far more celebrities like Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth Corrie) Billy Connolly ,William Shatner (Captain Kirk U.S Enterprise ) who have had osa for donkey's years have they raised awareness of the condition ??? although Bill Tarmeys book he does mention his cpap machine .
The paper also said that John Candy died from sleep apnoea which I hadn't realised.John Candy died in his sleep of a heart attack his osa may have been a contributing factor to heart problems. My clinic told me that sleep apnoea in itself cannot cause deathWrong i have read many articles on people dying in there sleep due to untreated sleep apnoea if your brain does'nt signal you in your sleep to gasp for air then your brown bread !!! its the constant strain on internal organs if it goes untreated that can cause damage, but the article didn't make that clear.
