PostPosted: Tue Aug 09, 2011 11:46 pm
hi all, I have been having episodes of waking up gasping for air and choking for a good few months now, thought it was stress, originally it was just as i was going into sleep it would happen, but now i'm waking up out of sleep with it. it's awful and makes me panic! i am starting to worry about going to bed every night, also always very tired during the day. what can my doc do about it if i go see him? any advice much appreciated
thanks

Yes this is how I started (very frightning) you need to go to your doctor asap and be refered to the sleep clinic. They will give you a small device that clips onto your finger that monitors you overnight to be diagnosed...Goodluck

Hi Julie , i have just been diagnosed with it , my symptons were , lack of energy , sleeping anywhere { parties , cinema , car , but not when driving } napping during the day , especially after having my lunch , which i had never done before , weight gain , waking up choking { hospitalised twice in Marrakesh with it } and afraid to go back to sleep . Infact i slept in the chair , i thought i would be safer sitting up :(

hi
thanks for your replies, i'm so grateful to you both..i have been to doc and being referred to sleep clinic, don't know how long i will have to wait she said it could be a while, but at least she referred me. The weight gain rings a bell with me, i have gained a stone in the last 12 months, always been an even weight and not eating more or doing anything different. SA more common than i knew, awful thing isn't it? i alsp suffer with restless legs too which could be connected. they will sort me out i hope
take care
julie
