Welcome Mancman! Very sorry to hear your tale of woe with the DVLA ... you're not alone. Why not send a pm to Nuneatonman37 ... I'm sure he will be able to offer advice and hopefully some others will chime in soon.

Have you started therapy with an xPAP machine? Once you have one, and your data levels show you are managing 6 hours minimum per night with the mask on (!), and your AHIs are under 5, then you can be classed as compliant, and that you are responding sufficiently well to treatment that the DVLA will give you your licence back. Your doc - probably the sleep clinic doc - will have to notify them that you are compliant, and in due course depending on bureaucracy (!) your licence will be returned, with no sign that you have had a period without a licence or that you have treated OSA. As for the insurance company SHAME ON THEM. You should find that you will be insured by other companies but you must declare your condition and that you are considered compliant (ie treated) by your health professionals (a letter to say this from your doc wouldn't hurt). I wonder if contacting the Insurance Ombudsman might be an option ... or a letter to the insurance company's head office ONCE YOU ARE CONSIDERED COMPLIANT! They might apologise (though hell might freeze over first) or even offer you cover again.
