Hi All,

I have had major sleeping problems for years, which was mainly caused by life style. I was in a stressful job and drinking to cope.

However, I left the job improved my lifestyle but still remained tired everyday all day. I've had all the blood-tests, hypnotherapy, homophobia, you name it I've had it. The only things that did help me was for a period of about 6 month Citalopram (SSRI) improved my energy but I would still need to sleep in the day.

As far as I knew I was not a snorer. However, because I'm a light sleeper I have an MP3 player playing white noise all night. Recently, the player broke and we discovered that I'm now a snorer. Also, of interest is that my airway is very small. Tablets that most people can swallow I have to break down to a 1/4 of the size for me to be able to swallow them.

I don't fall asleep anywhere that I shouldn't. But I do sleep every afternoon and on a very bad day I might also sleep in the evening. I'm no longer able to work, so I can sleep at these times if I need to.

I also have very bad memory problems. I'm almost 2 stone over weight.

Can anyone give any feedback on my story?

Also, what are the best home tests? Do they actually work?

Also, are CPAP machines the only cure as I think would have major problem getting to sleep when wearing one of those?

I've never really considered sleep apnoea but it would be great if this was the problem because I could finally do something about my energy.

Thanks

Hi and Welcome,

Perhaps try the Epworth sleep test it measures your daytime sleepyness used at most sleep clinics.

http://www.britishsnoring.co.uk/sleep_a ... _scale.php

The higher the score the more chance you will have osa .

If high go see your gp and get a referral to a sleep clinic ,don't waste your money on home tests because if you did these tests yourself you would still need a official diagnosis to get the equipment .

Regards.
