Hello All

I've been using Resmed S8 APAP for 5 years and a nasal mask and have kept my apnea under control (AHI of <5 per night) at pressure of 9.2. But last night the ahi figure shot to 38 and the leak went to 0.32l/s. I cant think of whats gone wrong - unless I've had my mouth open an the machine has had problems maintaining the air pressure?

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Hi John.

I wouldn't worry to much about it if it is a one off. I think everyone has the odd bad night. It may have been the mask shifted during the night.
You might have been breathing through your mouth or the air short circuiting through your mouth.
If this happens on a rare occasion I wouldn't worry about it as you are getting less than 5 normally, as long as you don't feel tired or wake up with headaches.
Keep an eye on things and if it happens a lot you might need to look into a fulface mask. Also check that you are not pulling the straps to tight as the air pressure inside the mask holds the seal against your face and if it is to tight the seal may break and air escape.
