Sleep Disorders Australia had its NSW Annual General meeting on Saturday, and amongst the things that came out of the formal address by a sleep physician was reference to a study on Access to Diagnosis and Treatment of Patients with Suspected Sleep Apnea done in 2004 across 5 countries. I was shocked at how low the access rate is in the UK!

See this table.... http://ajrccm.atsjournals.org/cgi/content/full/169/6/668/TBL1

and see here for the article.... http://ajrccm.atsjournals.org/cgi/content/full/169/6/668

Something to be bringing to the attention of your local member of Parliament on a severe and constant basis I suggest!

Cheers,

Bill

Good lord that is shocking. I knew it was bad but I really didn't think it was that bad. Is there any indication why we are so poorly under represented in the sleep/NHS field?
