:o Hello still no further ahead than I was last year,I have been traded up to bipap but still no improvement.I had a polysomnograph on 31st May 2011 been told everthing ok?SO why do I still get eds daytime fatigue etc etc on top of this I have been told to reduce my modafinil dosage (currently 400mgper day)as they have been getting reports of cardio vascular problems for long term usage.everything else is ok heart etc they are looking into various insomnia's,but been told this is likely the best i will be!but obviously the reduced dosage of modafinil is going to have an impact on the eds etc etc.face to face appointment with consultant July 31.keep you posted HD :D :)

:D Hi everyone just an update after all this time !I returned to the Brompton yesterday after my actigraphy thing and based on my past history as well as the results from the actigraphy I have been told I have....................OSA and I have insomnia (don't know which kind yet though but there trying to find out)I have a return appointment in October. The funny thing is I never have a problem falling asleep mask&bipap on and sleep but if i wake I can't get back to sleep on the odd occasion that i have gone back to sleep i feel worse than i would have done if i just got up when i woke the first time.I very rarely sleep more than 6hrs and ive always been an early riser.any way i'm off will keep you posted. :o :D

I'm not sure quite who it was, but another member - relatively new - mentioned that there seemed to be problem of this combination. Please share information as and when possible as I think there are others 'out there' who have this.

Good to hear from you. Don't be a stranger!!

Hi all thanks for the replies :D They have reduced my dose as expected)modafinil)I have been told no coffee after miday or anything with caffiene in.My consultant/s have told me I have to reduce my bedtime by 5 mins per week for 3months and I'm not to get up when I wake and just lay in bed(this is to see if if fall asleep again)I haven't yet but its early days I suppose :? I've never been one for lying in bed!!even on weekends. They think I may have terminal insomnia but I will have to wait and see! ttfn HD :D

Hi HD ,

Good to see you back here i was wondering if you had eloped off with jippity

I think with osa comes other sleep disorders i have recently been diagnosed with -non rem parasomnia (i do weird and wacky things in my sleep and i don't know anything about it) consultant tells me its common in the elderly .... (im 41 puzzled to say the least) .

I can remember as a child doing things in my sleep eg at around 5yrs pulling and twirling my mums hair when i was asleep in her bed ,also talking in my sleep aswell .

Keep smiling fella thats the best tonic for ya ,

Take care,
