I guess it's unusual for the woman to be the snorer in a partnership, but my husband has suffered many years of sleepless nights with my heavy continuous snoring, a lot of times retreating to the spare room, which always made me feel terribly guilty! Then on top of this, a few years back I started getting sleep apnea, and went to a sleep clinic where they advised an MAD device. I never got around to doing anything about it, until recently, as we moved abroad to Spain and the bedroom walls are quite thin and Im certain our neighbours would hear me. So I done a bit of research, found this site and after taking the on line test/questionaire, was advised of the most suitable device, so I went ahead and ordered and made it my new year resolution to try it out. WHY DIDNT I DO THIS BEFORE! I'm not even 2 weeks in, and the effect was immediate! First night it felt very strange in my mouth, but I actually kept it in all night. I had an ok nights sleep, and woke up to a dumb struck husband, who's first words to me were "it actually works, you didn't snore once!" I was so pleased 😆 My problem is that I have an over bite and my airwaves were getting blocked in any position while sleeping. I had set the device with the bottom jaw quite forward and needed to adjust it back slightly, as first morning I had jaw ache on left side. So the second night was much better. I do experience a little jaw ache on that left side while eating, but this seems to be gradually easing each day. I can put up with that! So it's not even 2 weeks and I am already used to having the device in my mouth at night and both me and my husband are getting such a good night's sleep. I feel refreshed, and dont feel tired in the day. I couldnt be happier!
Toned Somnoguard AP

I thought I wasn't sleeping well. I kept waking up unrefreshed and tired. I often felt I was waking myself. My husband and I had taken to separate beds due to us both snoring! However, we had a holiday away when he realised I was waking myself, becoming distressed by not breathing properly. I did not act on this occasion. We went away again and I did it again and we then realised I probably was experiencing sleep apnoea attacks. I researched the various products and decided the sonnoguard ap would be my best option, as I wanted to be able to breath through my mouth if necessary. I watched the video several times. I would advise anyone fitting the appliance to take their time, play the video and keep to it step by step. I got a really good fit straight away, only needing to smooth an edge with hot water. The appliance has changed my life. I sleep so much better, more deeply and I remain asleep. I feel much better in myself now I'm getting quality sleep. It is very expensive for what it is. However, for me it has been worth every penny.
Saved my relationship

Having been relegated to the spare room on several occasions the final straw came when I left my had to leave my gf house and go home to mine because my snoring was so bad. I used a snoring recording app both with and without the guard and safe to say... I've been welcomed back to bed

My first MAD device would not stay in place so reluctantly used a CPAP machine - after referral by my GP and a sleep test confirmed Sleep Apnoea. The CPAP greatly improved sleeping and stopped episodes of snoring. However I never felt that I had a refreshing, good night's sleep. After completing the questionnaire on this web site the conclusion recommended the Somnoguard AP. The instructions and video seemed daunting and I was dubious about trying yet another MAD device, but with the possibility of no longer using a CPAP mask, refilling and cleaning the water tank I got started on the moulding instructions. Have now been using the SomnoGuard AP for more than two months. I no longer use the CPAP machine and have slowly returned to a good night's sleep. Oh! and I don't snore. It works 100% for me!I see there is a "Soft" version, when I eventually come to replace my device I would hope that was suitable for me.
Worth the money

I received valuable advice when I rang which suggested the purchase of the Tomed SomnoGuard AP for my wife who snores and grinds her teeth, the latter causing other devices to break or cause her pain due to the lack of movement in the particular device. This device arrived quickly and was easy to fit having watched the video and consulted the instructions, we now enjoy restful sleep and I no longer feel exhausted or move to the spare room. There are no signs of wear yet on the screw fixing and as stated she broke three of a competitors device at £70 (They replaced it free of charge twice). Its worth the money for a good nights sleep.
Can't be without it!

Thank you so much for enabling my very noisy husband to now be able to sleep with me without snoring all night and keeping me awake! This is an excellent mouth guard. We have tried others they don't work.

Great product - Easy to mold to your teeth, great fit, performs better than I expected. I am using CPAP, and realized I may benefit from using a MAA device as I have a slight overbite. I have seen great improvements in my wakefulness during the day, a reduction in my CPAP AHI, and 90% operating pressure. I found myself using the MAA during the day while exercising, it appears to improve my ability to complete my routine as I do not tire as quickly. The MAA fit on the teeth is not as tight as a mouth guard, so the device can be removed quickly if required. What I appreciated the most was the ability to warm the product up with water to make minor comfort adjusts after using the product for a few days, with further adjustments required. I was concerned the product may agitate my receding gums, although that has not proven the case. The life cycle of this product is 12 to 18 months, and now that I know a MAA works well for my situation I am looking at upgrading to a Somnowell product with a longer life cycle. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes, I would.
This MAD worked for me
on the 29th Sep 2015
I have had a major problem with snoring for at least 8 years. I was advised to try a MAD and have used a several different MADs for years with no real improvement, but I kept going regardless, replacing them 6 monthly. I tried ones with and without holes to breathe through, but with no convincing effect. My wife moved out of the bedroom. Caravan holidays were becoming increasingly stressful, and described by her as "an endurance test". Eventually in August 2015 we did the BSSASA questionnaire together and I expected to have to try a CPAP machine, but the recommendation was for the Tomed MAD. This is 3 times the price of my previous MADs. I thought it would be a complete waste of money, and was intending to send it back within the 40 day trial period advertised and buy the inevitable CPAP. I started with my lower jaw level with my upper jaw and wound out the short screw at 1 turn a day with occasional "rest" days with no advancement. When I reached the recommended maximum with the short screw, I changed to the longer screw at the same position. My wife had detected no improvement after, by now, 3 weeks of using it. I continued to wind it out and 3 days later, she suddenly said that I was quieter and hadn't woken her up or prevented her going back to sleep with my snoring. I was not obviously sleeping better though sometimes I had some 6 hour nights. I gave the screw 1 more turn, and waited to see if my wife would complain again. She says that I am now silent, and she is still having trouble with her sore hip, but I'm not keeping her awake at all. My lower jaw is about 6 mm in front of my upper jaw, but that doesn't bother me at all.The video is brilliant. The sucking noise as you remove it is completely unlike my previous MADs, as is the amount of lower jaw protrusion. If it physically lasts 12 months, and continues to keep me snore-free, it will still cost 50% more than the other MADs, but silence is priceless...

I'm not a snorer myself, but my husband is.Horrifically so. I begged him to give this a go before I would force him to go to the doctors and was seriously considering separate bedrooms. Not that it would have helped much (the only room he can't be hard in is the kitchen). Earplugs were useless - he's that loud. So my final plea, after much research, was to try this mouth guard. There was the most expensive option which has to be fitted by a dentist, which we agreed if this worked we would invest in in the longer term. I have spent many hours watching him sleep and snore, so I know he's a throat snorer! He agreed because he saw how desperate I was getting. He moaned about having to mould it, about how "odd" it felt at first, etc etc, because I really don't think he believed it would make any difference (he's tried many "standard" remedies over the years which have all failed). But I insisted. He falls asleep very quickly, and it rapidly progresses from heavy breathing to full wall rumbling snoring. So on the first night I lay there, heard his breathing change (he was asleep) and waited...... The snore never came. Just deep beaths!I could 't quite believe it. Not a peep. The next night I actually made him sleep on his back (he's not allowed normally because it's horrific, but he likes sleeping on his back). Again, nothing. It's been over a month now and I never thought it could be this good. He's sleeping better, I'm actually sleeping and the most I've ever heard from him has been the odd huff or snort (only for a second, very quiet and only a few times). I'm more thrilled than I ever thought I would be. He's happier because I'm happier and he's much more well rested. He is a convert, despite his initial insistence it wouldn't work "I've tried all these things before..." Until I explained this was a little more advanced than your usual anti-snoring mouthpiece/snore spray/nasal strips etc. Honestly, you don't know the battle I had to put up to convince him to give it a go because he was so certain it wouldn't work. If you're the throat snorer and think you've tried everything and this won't work, I'm here to tell you it DOES!If your the long suffering partner like me and your other half won't hear it, show them this review. I'm not joking when I say it saved our marriage (it was almost a deal breaker for me!) allows us to both sleep well and in the same room (for the first time ever for longer than 1 night!) and saved his life (because I Was ready to smother him!!!!) When this does eventually wear out, we will now be upgrading to the one which needs to be fitted by a dentist as a permanent solution. If you think the price of this is expensive, then I can only assume that snoring isn't plaguing you as much as it did me. I would have paid anything for something that worked! It's already paid for itself over and over and over again. Cannot thank you enough! I really can't. Even the hubby is happy (he loves it now and loves buying all his little cleaning supplies to keep in nice and fresh). If I could rate higher I would.
